has captured 430 soldiers fighting in the region, Valery Gerasimov, chief of the Russian general staff told Putin in a televised meeting on Wednesday.

said the captured fighters should be "treated as terrorists, in accordance with the laws of the Russian Federation," suggesting they could face trials in Russian courts and be jailed for decades.

@Vittoria Does he realize this could be reciprocated by the Ukrainian?

@martinlentink
1) no, #ukraine can not do that — ukraine treats all prisoners according to the 3rd geneva convention and other international agreements concerning prisoners of war, not «terrorists», especially not according to some «laws» that would proclaim another nation's territory as its own the way #russia does;

2) kremlin DOES NOT CARE; i'm surprised anyone would still apply basic human ethics here; #kremlin would be HAPPY if ukraine did even half of what russia does to prisoners as that would permit them to jump right in with their usual one-sided lies-based propaganda aimed at stupidly gullible westerners, especially americans today.

@tivasyk True. But no reason not to keep showing the distinction between the crimes of RuSSia and the conduct of the Ukrainian troops. Because often in the US the difference does not seem apparent, and even in the EU sometimes people are indifferent.

@martinlentink @tivasyk They’ve got a bunch of Russian brutality -admiring folks running the show there, that’s for sure.

I think Trump, Vance & Musk are jealous. They wish they could be as brutal and unconcending as Putin’s Russia.

In their criminal minds they are stuck in admiring the work of even greater criminals.

@Vittoria By that same logic, every Russian soldier captured in Ukraine should be treated as a terrorist too.
