Any one have the watchOS 11 beta installed? If so, could you test if text input remembers your last used mode (keyboard vs. dictation)?
Starting in watchOS 8.1, Apple started *always* defaulting input to the keyboard (or scribble older models), so if you want to dictate you always have to tap the mic button after the keyboard appears.
My FB on the issue just got an update asking me to test on the 11 beta, but I don't have it installed yet.
(Background: https://forums.getdrafts.com/t/alert-for-apple-watch-dictation-users/11358)
…To test, do something that requires text input (send a Message, create a draft in Drafts, etc.), hit mic button on keyboard to dictate, dictate something and hit done.
Then do it again…does the input come up directly to dictation (last used input), or back to the on-screen keyboard?
@agiletortoise I’m not superstitious but I’m crossing fingers in the hope of good news.
@sylumer @agiletortoise Well, I think you’ll both be very pleased. Just tested with Drafts on my Series 7 running watchOS 11, and the last input method is remembered, even among different apps (Drafts > dictate a note > New note starts with dictation > Messages > New message starts with dictation)
@agiletortoise @sylumer wait, didn’t they notify you they processed your feedback?! Shocker!
@cdf1982 @sylumer My Feedback dates back to the original beta of 8.1, when they said, “Yea, we meant to do that”.
I replied again to it last year sometime asking (pleading for?) them to reconsider, and just now got the very generic “test in 11 beta” reply - which sometimes means they fixed, sometimes just means they are trying to close the FB. Glad it appears to be the former in this case.
