Another reason I appreciate (@apps).

One major frustration I have with 3rd party apps is that, when Mastodon isn't available, I can't see my home feed.

Caching solves much of this problem!

@atomicpoet Once I figured out how to hide replies in the main timeline, Fedilab became my favorite app for Friendica.

@atomicpoet this app is great, but I'm not able to set up notifications (Android)... any #howto

@misskoula Press account icon, go to Settings, select Notifications.

@misskoula @atomicpoet yep, same. it takes some extra steps im not willing to go through. The app feels amazing tho

Whenever I try fedilab, I really really want to like it, but the UI is just... Not quite there. I always end up at tusky. It's getting noticeably better though, if I knew anything about android development I'd help out!

Yes, putting the inflow of posts into cache in the app is ingenious. As you say, it covers periods where the server is not available.

Equally important, it overcomes the issues that arise due to the server limit of max 400 posts in Home. Under this limit, people with many Follows are bound to miss certain posts entirely, they will never even see them.

The cache approach makes those posts visible again.

I've just posted some thoughts on this, here:

I'm looking forward to: "only on wifi"; "only on unmetered data"; and "only when plugged in" options here.

@kdvncm @atomicpoet
This can be introduced of course. We already use WiFi detection for loading media. Bookmarked.

I think I can also achieve the same result with Google's datally app. (Did some reason I've become stingy with data.)
