I slept very poorly last night due to the news that Musk gave privileged / possibly PII & DM level access of Twitter mod access to a variety of strident anti-LGBTQ (especially anti-trans) bigots who masquerade as journalists. This is an incident which would require user notification under California law, if it weren’t for the platform owner granting it. It still might be a violation of privacy laws. It’s absolutely a disaster for all LGBTQ people who used Twitter.
@PennyOaken It's incorrect. The Slack DMs are screenshots because they have direct access to them. However they only have picture of a screen of the Twitter admin panel because they weren't given full access to them, they were only given access to the given pictures.
The Twitter employee whose admin access was used explained it but I can't find it again.
Elmo is a a**hole but we should still be accurate.
@dreeg @PennyOaken the post you’re probably thinking of is https://twitter.com/ellagirwin/status/1601084794288640000
You’re right, if her claim is to be believed. But I find the idea that Twitter’s “Head of Trust and Safety” gives a reporter screenshots of data from customers and current and former employees quite gross regardless, especially when the main goal appears to be to settle some grievance.
