of my . The Batavus Competition with 7-speed 105 I bought when I finished school, instead of getting my driver's licence. Later I splurged on a custom alu frame with Ultegra, the blue one with red Mavic wheels, from Hagen in Haarlem. Now I have an alu Canyon, still Ultegra but luckily much better wheels... On a parallel timeline, I had a Giant "ATB" hybrid-MTB thingie with Gripshift, but now a proper one with suspension fork, phew.

Two racing bicycles leaned against the wooden post with col sign for the Col de la Madone (925 m) near Nice, France. The bike in front is darkish blue with orange bar tape, red wheels, green tyres, a black saddle and two transparent water bottles. My surname is on the top tube near the seat post.

The bike has white bar tape, white pedals, a white saddle and one black bottle. It has a Shimano Ultegra group but Campagnolo Eurus wheels. It is a sunny day with reflections of a few clouds in the water. The trees are bare but the grass is green.

Apropos "proper", that was maybe the wrong word; I had endless fun on that unproper red moster, with road racing, cyclocross and MTB wheels depending on the time of year and/or my mood. It got me out there riding and there's nothing more proper than that.

@ednl A Wattbike and Zwift is what got me back on the bike these last two years and now that I do have a new bike with actual wheels I have more confidence on going out on that than I likely would have. Really doesn't matter what gets you on the bike as long as you are enjoying it.
