Here's my latest 1 kpc draft map. This includes the latest Hunt and Reffert cluster catalog from March and the 125 or so stars with absolute magnitude < -4. (80% of these are in Hipparcos.)
I gave up on the Gaia astrophysical parameters table because it has too many errors for intrinsically bright stars.
Instead I am just using Bailer-Jones distances, the G magnitude and SIMBAD spectral types. This means that the map is likely missing bright giants embedded in dense dust like the Aquila Rift. I can add those over time.
If the star is in Hipparcos but not in Gaia, I use the recommended formula to convert the Hipparcos magnitudes to Gaia G before converting to absolute magnitude.
I'm not done with this. Will add a legend etc.
Here's a near final version with the legend and other poster bits.
