Growing up in the country where everyone is equally poor, it was surprising for me to see how deeply wealth divides and cuts Western European societies, and how the scars it leaves persist across generations. According to the World Bank, Ukraine has one of the lowest Gini (income inequality) indices in the world, ranking even lower than the Nordic countries.
