Time for a revised #Introduction. I’m a professor of computational biology at UC Berkeley; my group develops machine learning algorithms and web apps for genomics, molecular evolution, and synthetic biology. I’m currently on sabbatical at Calico, having just chaired the Berkeley/UCSF PhD program in Bioengineering. Other random interests: experimental computer games, music production, dad jokes, linguistic nerdery, AI, politics, retro 8-bit coding, dadding, therapy, self-awareness, etc.
@ianholmes Jesus Christ... I think I'm going to have to reevaluate my life after rereading this re-intro.
@denniskoch ha oh dear. I’ll quote Kurt Vonnegut: to be clear, I’m not GOOD at any of those things. Being good at things isn’t the point of doing them. https://medium.com/writers-blokke/a-life-lesson-from-kurt-vonnegut-of-all-people-4cbd3284c740
@ianholmes I love Vonnegut! That's a solid quote and I can relate.
Is anyone else wondering if Ian generated this post himself…or if there really is an Ian?
@roo_44 I was about to reassure you that I definitely do exist, but all of a sudden I’m thrown into doubt.
