Sad to see the passing of a last great editor.
I haven't spoken of this, but in the '80s, Frankel recruited me to be a media columnist in The Times. I stayed at Time Inc. to launch Entertainment Weekly. Mistake?

@jeffjarvis Can't speak to whether it was a mistake or not from a journalism career perspective. But I subscribed to @ew back then when you were running things. It was consistently a great read. Both the Times and EW are not even shades of their former selves FWIW.
