“They want 1939 Germany but they're going to get 1789 France if they keep fucking around.”

@roknrol
This gentleman in the Army uniform seems to know history.
@benroyce

@josuex @benroyce Yes, an anomoly. "Americans" still call the French pussies because of what they don't know about the World Wars.

@roknrol
There's a lot not taught in American schools, but the allies working with the French resistance is something most American citizens over the age of 30 know about. @benroyce

@josuex @roknrol

sure but in 2003 we got "freedom fries" because france opposed invading iraq

right wing media filled with "surrender monkeys" hate and memes on the french

the resulting deluge of stupidity represents the average content of "french history" knowledge in the average american chud's cranial cavity, and any previous knowledge has been replaced with that crap

@benroyce @josuex @roknrol LOL, I'm surprised Canadian bacon didn't become freedom bacon...or did it? :)

It always seemed ridiculous.

@CStamp
"Freedom Fries" came about because France said, "Wait a minute, maybe invading Iraq isn't such a good idea."
@benroyce @roknrol

@josuex Yeah, I know. Canada also told them to take a hike. :) @benroyce @roknrol

@CStamp
Like many "Americans" at the time I too was manipulated by propaganda. I joined the military because I thought "freedom and democracy" were threatened. Within a year of joining, I realized the sad imperialistic reality.
@benroyce @roknrol

@josuex @benroyce @roknrol Lots of young people join the military for employment, travel opportunities, educational opportunities, to get out of their small towns...there is a reason why they like to recruit 19-yr-olds. Most don't expect to actually have to fight.

My father joined the Canadian Armed Forces for most of those reasons. He was lucky that he never did have to be deployed into a war zone. I have an uncle that was part of a peace-keeping trip, got shot, ended up with lifelong pain.

@CStamp
I was a Navy Corpsman (medic) with the 1st Marine Division. I never shot at anybody, my job was to care for those who've been shot.
@benroyce @roknrol

@josuex Are you ok? Being in a place in which folk were being shot at can't have been without risks. @benroyce @roknrol
