My experience of X was not awful, I was careful about who, and what I followed.
I still migrated here, because I don't like what Elon stands for, and I'll be damned if I'll support him.
It was one of the best things I ever did as far as social media goes.
@leavex - I think you need to go wider than just X. If you see all the Big Tech aligning themselves with Adolph Trump, it's not just X that we need to leave, but also Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta and many others. It's not always easy, because many of these companies (and their products) are very strongly embedded in our society, but every little bit helps. Another web browser (like Vivaldi), another email/calendar/drive (like Proton.me), another search engine (available in Vivaldi for example), another document ecosystem (like LibraOffice/CollaboraOffice), another messaging app (like Signal or Telegram). A lot can be done in a very short time, while other changes will take more time (and more users), but... it's worth it.
