@mysk @signalapp crazy! I never like Telegram anyway I still use WhatsApp because here in Brazil most people use it but I prefer Signal.
@mysk @signalapp That’s a very unfair takeaway from the article. Also, for the records, Telegram added the feature to hide your phone number more than 5 years ago: https://telegram.org/blog/privacy-discussions-web-bots
@mamouneyya @mysk @signalapp To be really fair it's very different to the implementation Signal did, in Signal you can hide your phone number entirely, make infinitly new usernames and let them expire at any given time (you can only have 1 username at once) and disable that people can find you by your phone number in Signal. As far I understood Telegram's implementation only hide's it in group chats.
@voxel @mysk @signalapp Pretty sure they support hiding it in 1-on-1s too. Telegram’s privacy settings let you configure whether you want to share your number with everyone, nobody, your contacts, or certain people you specify. You can also exclude certain people. Anyone you message who is not included will only see your username.
@mysk @signalapp well, its an feature to help telegram and its not like it exposes it by default (unlike signal) but telegram still isn't the best instant messaging app
