Twitter front-end Nitter dies as Musk wins war against third-party services
Musk's changes kill service that let you view tweets without going to Twitter.
@arstechnica did you hear about this? @hallenbeck - hopefully it doesn’t impact Sportsbotxyz.
@paulk_ @arstechnica Yeah, they've been battling it for quite a while now. Extraordinary they kept it going so long, managing to find creative ways to circumvent every blocker put on the APIs by Twitter. I'm not sure how Sportsbotxyz works. I seems they don't have the same issues. Perhaps paying for access to the API?
@paulk_ @arstechnica It means Twitter is entirely dead to me now. Which is probably a good thing.
@hallenbeck @arstechnica if I stop seeing sportsbot feeds I’ll know why!
@paulk_ @arstechnica I think the way it runs is very different. Probably using their own account(s) which some small, private Nitter servers still do. My guess would be Sportsbot is essentially one user "following" a bunch of accounts and converting the data into AP feeds. That's why you have to request accounts be added and can't just follow whoever. But that's just guessing - I don't know for sure.
@hallenbeck @arstechnica Sounds about right!
