2024 was the year I finally started turning all of my little samples of wild clay into terra sigillata. Each of these vases was painted with different types of clay that I collected from all over the country—shades of tan, yellow, brick red and brown. These pieces express my gratitude to God, the land and the ancestors.

@bassoonwrath Thank you so much. The colors mostly come from clays I’ve collected and made into decorating slips called #terrasigillata. The forms are inspired by Nigerian pots which are often spherical.
@potterybyosa I’d love to learn how to use wild clay. I know a few people do that here. But we don’t have the amazing range of colours which you’ve collected!
