I suppose I should do an #introduction. Despite my account being 4 years old, I'm fairly new to actually using Mastodon.
I'm a single dad from Melbourne, Australia. I grew up as a UN kid, living in Tonga, The Maldives, and Cambodia. I've worked in ICT for 20+ years, but currently don't work as most of my time is dedicated to my kids.
I'm into tech, gaming, politics, with a good dash of military history (thanks gaming!). I love to cook. I enjoy tending to, and breeding, freshwater fish.
@sortius I did similar. Set my own server up a year ago, didn’t use it and destroyed it. Couldn’t get my head around the fedoverse nature of it and the way you seem to grow connections more organically here.
Given the recent interest though, I thought I’d give it another go. Never used the bird site though so, who knows if I’ll like it long term!
