Question for chicken owners, out of curiosity: what do you think the ACTUAL price of a dozen eggs is from the backyard chickens?
Include: feed, enclosure/repairs, lost chickens from predators, vet visits, chicken retirement lodge, chicken sweaters and hats, etc etc? #chickens
@ai6yr Still better than the price of meat after relatively recently taking up hunting as an adult, which currently stands at several thousand dollars per pound :P
@TonyYarusso @ai6yr I'm still at about, $2000 a pound. But it would fall quite a bit if I got off my ass and went hunting more:-) There is an economy of scale thing going on:-)
@TonyYarusso @stalbaum LOL... You can't hunt here in city limits, but there are many gardeners who would gladly have you take their squirrels.
@ai6yr @TonyYarusso Ah, but a proper license, a $40 live animal cage trap and a pellet gun (maybe a YouTube video which I how I learned to dress a rabbit) and you are adding protein to the table. And nobody will complain about the most expensive part - the hunting licence - during the coming depression so there that. Plus Americans can always eat their young, but I am afraid we are running out of that resource by now...
