"‘What is wrong with men is what’s wrong with America’ is an thought-provoking read, about how men don’t read much and that’s a problem."
Have you seen how white women vote?
I mean sure, there is definitely a toxic masculinity problem that fosters and backs up fascism but there is also the white women's auxiliary in the united states who supports that mess as well.
Shit is fucked.
And to be clear, I'm saying that as a white woman. I want to scream at other white women, "What the fuck is wrong with you!?!" but I already know the answer to that question.
Whiteness and racism matter more than other concerns. White women live in the same racist fucked up subculture that their white reactionary husbands and white reactionary male relatives do. They're part of the problem too.
Supporting whiteness and racism matters more than any other consideration.
The u.s. white female electorate had 3 elections to back the fuck up and get a clue.
The majority voted for a rapist asshole who hates them and their femaleness in all three elections.
You can't walk that back. That sends a statement to the world.
As a woman, that's depressing as fuck.
But that's the reality of what happened.
I poll watch. I was told by another poll watcher that where he was outstate some men were taking their wifes ballots and making the woman ask for replacements if they didn't approve and the poll workers didn't challenge it. Its still really hard to survive in some communities in WI if you try to fight the chauvenism.
@timberwraith Susan Faludi's _Backlash_ talks a lot about how white women were their worst enemy.
@timberwraith women from working class families actively sabotaging their daughters for the sake of their miserable ass men.
@emma Yup. And I've seen that pass across the generations in my ex-family.
@emma You know, I read that decades ago when it first came out but it has been so long that I forgot most of the book. Ah well.
@timberwraith I'm gonna dig through my shelves to see if I have it. I do know there was a hypercard stack for it in the 1990's and I bet that might be up on the internet archive. I'm gonna check after I make some dinner.
@timberwraith I've only been able to find this image of the 3.5" disk(!) of the hypercard stack https://www.flickr.com/photos/ari/5518478316
But I have a lead to the person who published this, and gonna ask about it.
@emma Oh wow. That's wild! An ebook in another form.
@timberwraith and I had a copy but I can't find it.
@emma Oh dear. I hope it pops up. That must be disappointing/frustrating.
@timberwraith I've put out a call for it.
@emma Oh wow! That's neat.
