@Mastodon Thank you! As for "Helping writers and journalists", it was not clear to me if it is still a manual process. I'm a writer, and you like to have this set on my account.

@vladcampos No, it's no longer manual! Or rather, now it's manual on your side. Go to the Verification tab on your profile settings and add the domains you'd like to appear on under Author Attribution.

@Gargron Thank you. May I suggest adding that link to the blog post?

@vladcampos @Gargron +1 for adding this link! There's a lot of people on here who maintain their own websites (myself included) and I was puzzled as to why the Fediverse author tag wasn't working.

The verification process should be noted everywhere adding the meta tag to a site is mentioned.

@vladcampos @Gargron ...Or is it required? The UI copy in that panel of "Only allow specific websites" seems to indicate that if the field is empty any domain will be allowed?

@hank That's good point. Also, it seems that it doesn't work with already published posts. I added the meta tag to an old article and my account wasn't added as the author on Mastodon. @Gargron maybe a post specifically about this topic clarifying all details would be helpful.

@vladcampos I assume this is a caching issue and that Mastodon will only check the site again once it finds a new URL? Going forward I imagine it won't be much of a problem if it works the way I think it does... Just a bit of a funny rollout for the first of us trying to make sure it works!

@Gargron @Mastodon Good morning. I set everything up, and posted some articles after that, and it's not working here. Is there anything else that I have to set up?

@vladcampos the test post you published has been already posted by you two days ago, so it is already cached probably. Try it with a new post, then it should work 👍

@philipp Thank you. I'll try it, but I'm not sure if that's the case. @otaviocc tested his tag by doing precisely that, reposting an already published post.

@vladcampos @Mastodon you add the fediverse:creator tag to your website, and then use the verification options in Mastodon 4.3 profile settings page to specify which domain this should work on. blog.joinmastodon.org/2024/07/

@andypiper @Mastodon Is there any delay or propagation needed for it to work? I added the tag and posted a link (below) after that, but it didn't work.

@vladcampos @Mastodon you will also need to add the domain into your profile settings - apart from that I don't think there should be a delay.
