This narrative is the same for every violent clash at protests in the past ~seven years (maybe longer, idk): a leftist group is peacefully protesting, a right-wing group shows up and openly assaults the protesters for *hours*, and police watch and do nothing. At this point it’s a playbook being run by the violent right and police in implicit coordination. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2024/05/03/us/ucla-protests-encampment-violence.html?unlocked_article_code=1.pU0.AUdX.RBfy685XvxHg&smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare&sgrp=c-cb
@waldoj explicit coordination in some documented cases. Thinking of Portland Oregon here
@waldoj waiting for another Kyle Rittenhouse?
@waldoj it's way way longer *sighs*
@waldoj Can't bear to click on a link from the NYT, which continues to fan the islamophobic flames.
@waldoj Your bio states you work for the White House and were part of the Biden-Harris transition team. How do you square their repsonse to this with your post?
Curiosity, not condemnation. I’m stunned and outraged at #Biden ‘s response to genocide and the support given to a violent militarized response to peaceful protests against fucking genocide.
@JGuz Why in the world would I have to square their response to this with this post?
@waldoj
Seems like this is always coming down to a Palestine vs Jewish thing. Standing up for a person's right to free speech and right not to be assaulted seems to automatically position you with the speech your protecting. So many people can't understand that you can care about Palestinians and Jewish at the same time.
@JGuz
@JGuz Also, my bio does not say that I currently work for this White House.
"The videos showed counterprotesters attacking students in the pro-Palestinian encampment for several hours, including beating them with sticks, using chemical sprays and launching fireworks as weapons. As of Friday, no arrests had been made in connection with the attack."
@waldoj And yet they can't stop themselves from saying "violence erupted" and calling it a "clash."
