Thinking about the language used in Facebook's memories feature: "Zachary, we care about you and the memories you share here..." Compared to how you'd interact with the same thing on the fedi, FB feels straight up creepy. Who's the "we" and what value system is their "care" built on?
At worst, FB's use of "care" is a borderline manipulative way to make the entire organization feel more human and trustworthy, encouraging you to share more and engage in monetizable activity. At best, they actually DO care. About monetized engagement. There's simply no way for FB to care about people the same way people care about people
And I just can't imagine using the same language if I implemented the same feature for Mastodon or ActivityPub in general. I want to communicate on a platform built by people who are genuinely curious about their own activity and relationships
