Some community elders have told me that they were not allowed to try on shoes as children.
I asked them how they could tell if shoes fit. They had to trace their feet and guess.

From #28DaysOfBlackHistory, Day 2 is Isaac Myers who organized the Black caulkers in #Baltimore.
The Black caulkers were fired from the shipyards because the white caulkers asked for them to be fired.
They raised money to open their own shipyard in Fells Point and were profitable within a year.
