They say a picture is worth a thousand words. But what do you do when you are speechless? As you walk down the stairs that descend into Lower Antelope Canyon, you can tell that you are entering a very special place. There was a certain spiritual kind of feeling that came over me that I can't explain.

Lower Antelope Canyon II This is an image of Lower Antelope Canyon located outside of Page Arizona on Navajo land in North East Arizona. Hiking through this canyon is like walking a natural abstract landscape experience. The sandstone walls have been carved out by run off from storm, sometimes more than 100 miles away. The walls twist and turn in almost everyway conceivable. The walls are reddish orange and are fairly course. The sun seems to play games with the color of the rock. Sometimes it's a cool brownish red when in the shade but a bright orange like the flames of a fire when the sun is shinning on it.

When you enter the canyon it's as if you are transported to a magical place unlike any other.
The Navajo call this place Hazdistazi, or spiral rock arches.
Every step taken in this canyon reveals new and amazing views no matter where you turn your head. The red, orange, yellow sandstone, depending on how the sun hits it, curve, tilt, and twist in unimaginable ways. When you enter the canyon though it's as if you are transported to a magical place unlike any other. The Navajo call this place Hazdistazi, or spiral rock arches. Every step taken in this canyon reveals new and amazing views no matter where you turn your head. The red, orange, yellow sandstone, depending on how the sun hits it, curve, tilt, and twist in unimaginable ways. This image shows a reddish sand on the floor of the canyon fairly level with a slight uphill slant. The walls on both sides of the trail have somewhat vertical ripples with the grain on the rock tilting up into the canyon.
