Bit rot sets in so fast! My #PiWars competition robot which has been working just fine since the competition in April just stopped running, the night before a STEM event I am showing my robots at. Python can no longer load picamera2. Ended up commenting out all the camera code to get it to run. Now it works, but will no longer auto-run the program from the service on boot. So I still can't show it running unless I take a keyboard, monitor and mouse to start up the code. WHY?!

Happy to report that after replacing this servo, my robot and my youth team's robot using the same design of grabber performed perfectly for the #PiWars competition this weekend. So I think I just had a faulty servo causing my previous issues. I cleared the field without mishap in the toxic waste barrel sorting challenge, so was very happy with that. I came 3rd overall in the Intermediates class. Far better than I was expecting.

@andycarolan mind was slightly blown this weekend by the excellent 100% vegan coffee/cafe caterer we had at #PiWars. Just unapologetically vegan 🤣 while I do eat meat, I’m allergic to dairy so having coffee, cakes and food I could eat without even having to worry about getting the wrong milk was so dang refreshing!

But yeah I feel your pain- finding anything dairy free is very near the same problem and is a constant pain.

I am guessing there is a very tired organiser crew out there now! Sorry for not being able to help more, I am sure it was yet another successful event! Congratulations! Looking forward to some videos when you’ve had a chance to catch a break!

It's The eve of #piwars2024 #DiasaterZone!

Good Luck to the Organisers, Volunteers and Competitors taking part in #PiWars this weekend.

Have a great time
