In response to tariff threats, stores here are putting #BuyCanadian maple leaf stickers on the shelves to mark made-in-Canada products -- although some of them might not actually be Canadian: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/grocery-store-labels-maple-leaf-canadian-1.7477488
Fave example of maple-washing is Campbells adding "designed in Canada" badges to their soup cans. The soup's made in the US, the badge just refers to the label design. https://i.redd.it/6axcr2sf9dme1.png
McDonald's Canada drive thru screens are all "pleeeeaaasse don't boycott us, we support Canadian farmers, see? Maple leaf!"
@brownpau yeah, they're stressed out that Tim Hortons, even after being resold repeatedly still has a better claim on being Canadian, let alone A&W Canada, which is actually fully Canadian-owned. The franchisees will revolt if corporate doesn't stem the bleeding.
@karlrolson @brownpau Don’t forget Harvey’s!!
