Bought two new bike tires today, one to replace the tire that exploded while I was out on the trail
@Downes So if you're out on the trail with an exploded tyre (Commonwealth spelling in our part of the world ;-)) How do you get back home? Tube puncture repairs and carrying a spare tube is doable - but how do you replace a the tyre. Asking for a friend.
@Downes@mastodon.social@mackiwg In this case I rode on the flat tire to the nearest rode and had Andrea get me a taxi. Cost me quite a bit. You can get tires that fold up into a small bundle (eg. the Gatorskins I use). On a true wilderness ride that's what I would do. Also, duct tape can be used to hold the tire together, in a pinch.
@Downes Thanks - always wondered how wilderness riders deal with a failed tyre. Ouch - that was an expensive outing.
