My profile's bio may need to be tweaked soon. I'm thinking of coming out of filmmaking retirement to make promotional videos for the #Fediverse.
I just rewatched a video I made years ago to criticize Big Tech and oh my goodness it's so tame when you consider the horrors we are facing today: https://vimeo.com/292544650
Images from Monday's spectacle (feat. Big Tech oligarchs) would be PERFECT as promotional material for the Fediverse.
Oh my, I'm so tempted to make a video. Talk me out of it
Thank you for your encouraging responses
For context: I spent a decade making films for progressive causes (and freelance corporate gigs on the side, for clients that aligned with my values).
I stopped in 2022 because of: lack of time / schedule incompatible with caring for an infant.
When I was making films professionally I could work for 10+ hours, uninterrupted. Not anymore.
At most I have 4-5 hours now. And it's so hard to get in a state of flow and get everything done (cont')
Still, I keep having a recurrent thought that if I don't make videos now, to help promote the Fediverse, I would regret it in the future.
Yes my daily schedule makes it a challenge to do videos. But this is a good challenge, for a GREAT cause.
I'm so frustrated and angry and disgusted by Big Tech barons and their horrid behavior... I need to channel this rage somewhere... into a creative project
Please be patient with me (making videos is SOOO time consuming). But do know I'm on your side.
Thank you again for your sweet, encouraging messages. I’m typing this as I go pick up my child from daycare.
So yes I will definitely make a video soon. It will take time. Weeks possibly. But on the upside: as soon as I finish the English version, I could get to work on French and Italian ones for maximum impact. One of the perks of being a polyglot
I’ll be mostly offline for the rest of the day, thanks again
@_elena This sounds amazing! I am really looking forward to watching and sharing such a video! And I will be happy to help you with making a Spanish version of it too!
@diegodlh thank you Diego!
