Hmm..what fediverse platform should I install next. Streams? Friendica? Forte? Bonfire (again)? NodeBB? Let's have a challenge. My last few have installed with minor troubles over a weekend.
@box464 Making myself unpopular with the hardcore techies here, but Mastodon does work better than most.
Friendica, Akkoma and Iceshrimp are cool because of their large character limits...but the whole Firefish debacle proves that one maintainer with limited resources can't easily scale, and will face burnout eventually.
@ApostateEnglishman I've got a stock Mastodon instance running. I added some custom CSS templates and that was fun. I'm still a bit nervous about upgrades (it's bare metal, not docker). The last few went fine tho.
I'm running the new IceShrimp.NET as a docker image and it's really starting to come together. Excited to see the development there.
@box464 If I were to place my betting chips on anything, it would be Iceshrimp. Making a fedi service feature-rich is tough. I personally prefer "minimal, but it's simple and it just works all the time" (hence me using Tusky), but those people are doing a decent job of forking Misskey and thinking bigger.
I'll maybe veer over there when the project matures.
