Calling all fediverse Developers! This Monday will be a first meeting of fediverse developers to organise and discuss practical implementations of fediverse software. It focuses on practical tips and best practices for real-world interoperability.
Please boost so we can get a good representation of all the different fediverse software projects present!
Driving force behind this first meetup is Owncast's @gabek

@fediversereport @gabek rewrite the servers with as few dependrncies as possible! all in rust? c? c++?
@gabek hmm I am looking for language 19 for an unrelated rosetta stone like project. I will look into golang. #ReduceTheLayersOfCruff #ReduceTheDependencies
@thatonecalculator @gabek Glad to hear that CalcKey is representing!
@thatonecalculator@stop.voring.me @fediversereport@mastodon.social @gabek@social.gabekangas.com can multiple members be there?
There exists an existing FediVerse developer community at SocialHub with a process to ensure interoperability called Fediverse Enhancement Proposals (FEP).
How does this differ from it? Are there any advantages?
@helge @gabek Good question! The FEPs are a formal process of how to expand a standard, which is good and important. But there is quite a bit of interoperability that is already put in the standard, but not always implemented on an individual project level. Getting developers in touch with each other is a helpful way of encouraging the practical implementations of what is already there.
@fediversereport @gabek looking forward to the discussion!
@fediversereport@mastodon.social @gabek@social.gabekangas.com right off the bat I'd like to see better support for authenticating with existing accounts.
I pulled up the event page and wanted to mark myself as participating. Had to have an account on an existing mobilizon instance, so I signed up for an account. I have so many accounts on things, a sort-of account fatigue.
Having some standard method to sign up on fediverse apps would be so nice, in my opinion.
