i validated the quectel EM06 modem (in my case -E version for europe) in MNT Pocket Reform, also for voice calls. i don't have the extra SAI audio lines wired up yet in our imx8mplus mezzanine card, but i can call the Pocket Reform on my phone and play DTMF tones and the modem recognizes those. i can also call my phone via ATD commands etc. (all of this i only tested manually with AT commands, it's still like in 1997)
@mntmn Do you know which model would be the recommended -A variant?
@jason EM06-A is the one that is/was cross-sold on the Pocket Reform campaign page.
@mntmn Interesting, I ordered on the first day of the campaign...so I must have missed that option. Can I still order that through you?
@jason we don't sell it. but you can still find it at the bottom of https://www.crowdsupply.com/mnt/pocket-reform ("4G LTE Cellular M.2 Module")
@mntmn I see it down there now. I assume the 5G antenna on that page is matched for that module as well?
@jason there are many antenna options, i recommend to stay tuned for further posts by me on this
@mntmn Will do. I couldn't tell if their module version had the patch antenna or if it needed an external one. I ordered to the module and will look when it arrives.
@mntmn Also curious, did you test a version with the GPS option? I assume it would just populate as another serial port.
@jason i did a longer time ago and it worked, but requires another antenna.
@mntmn If I can conceal them nicely it might be worth it for APRS
