i didn't submit a talk for 37c3 because there's a rule forbidding the promotion of commercial products (the german rules say "auch nicht verdeckt"), which i think is inevitable in our case. we make OSHW but we also sell it to be able to survive doing that.
edit: i just got a reply explaining how to register a workshop ("self organized session", list will be announced in the event blog) or a lightning talk (but there will be less space this year, so might not work out). thanks!
i wrote about this to 37c3-content(at)cccv.de on wednesday, also asking if it were possible to do a workshop or lightning talk but did not get a response.
(even if one wanted to submit a talk now, it is not possible as the "frab" submission page is down)
Well I think, the proper solution is a gift of an MNT Refom pocket to me. Then make a talk about that specific device.
Seriously, if it isn't too late I'd talk to the organisers about that. Or do you wish to make a point wrt to a "stupid" rule?
@alexshendi i do not wish to make any point which is not directly stated. i am just explaining why i did not submit a talk.
@mntmn I wrote to that address about some major logistical questions of a big art installation I'm planning to bring like, a month ago, and I didn't get a response yet.
@mntmn that's a stupid rule. Full disclosure and a disclaimer pefore the talk should be enough. If a topic is relevant and interesting to the audience it should take place and not be squashed on the basis of that kind of rules.
@mntmn it's not a good rule
@mntmn it must have gone down in the last ten minutes. I was just on it
@mntmn
There was a talk about the oshw axiom camera system. I do not know whether the submission guidelines changed since then.
