poking through the reform next sources, and there's some really nice stuff going on in there https://source.mnt.re/reform/reform-next/
the battery packs look super robust compared to reform classic. clearly a lot of lessons learned. they put a whole 4S charger in each of the two packs!
edit it's one 4S2P charger in the motherboard and then a balancing (among other things) ic per battery pack it was me that was wrong i read it wrong dame da ne dame yo
there's also this cute little expansion module that sits in the back of the device body.
the stock module give you wifi+bt, but look at all that room for activities! and the connector already gives you sd, uart, usb, 3v3 and 5v lines!
lots of room to put shit under the keyboard too i think, so long as you keep under the height allowance
@jacqueline @mntmn Right now, the bottom seems to be completely flat on the inside. This means that I'd probably glue or tape things to it to keep them in place. I wonder if the Next body should come with anything that helps in attaching new mods to the bottom (like some protrusions and holes for M2 screws or the like). Or whether having the bottom anything but plain flat would mainly hinder creativity...
@josch @jacqueline yeah we talked about that yesterday, lets see if we can get a grid of threads in there
@jacqueline @josch the novena had this IIRC
@mntmn @jacqueline Yes, according to the CAD files from https://www.kosagi.com/w/index.php?title=Novena_Mechanical_CAD they used a 30 mm grid.
@eqe @jacqueline @josch yesssss. the novena was so ahead of its time
