Just curious what people here are thinking.
Are you stockpiling food and household goods in anticipation of future political and supply chain problems?
If it's just food or just goods but not food, tell me in the comments. Or if you don't want to say it's you, just say you know someone who is.

In December we bought the replacement phones and laptops we expect to need some time in the next 4 years, if that counts.
@thecorodon Last year I bought a computer so I could get one without a lot of AI built in so I get it.

Yeah, I suppose I'm going to have to swallow whatever Windows 11 has for my new computer when the time comes. But I'm thinking maybe if I switch before my old laptop's hard drive fails (for once) I can reincarnate it as a Linux machine...
@nancywisser @jwisser My partner devised emergency practices some time ago that involve perpetually keeping a stockpile of food and supplies and she’s continuing that (this work is mostly her and she has the storage space in her house—I help out a little and tag along in her disaster plans). I’m certainly considering living under a potential dictatorship or failing government as a potential disaster and a lot of the preparation overlaps with other disasters.
@nancywisser @jwisser (I voted “yes, a lot” but that didn’t feel like it quite accurately represented my response, which is that I like to be prepared for disasters regardless.)
@nancywisser I take anti-rejection meds. Any disruption could be death, so even before this I try to keep as much extra as insurance will allow (refills as soon as available)
@jacob Good idea. This must all be extra scary under those circumstances.
@nancywisser we live in an apartment and don't have room to stockpile. But I did just buy a new phone and a gopro in anticipation of price hikes. I would stockpile more if we had more space. Thinking about pulling some cash from the bank.
