We deserve an amazing Android Email client, help us create it.
K-9 Mail is on the final stretch to becoming Thunderbird for Android. If you want to participate (even finding bugs is helpful), you can find the repo here:
@ryanleesipes Tbh, I fear the future impact of mozilla on this project.
@anghenfil how do you mean? We've been running K-9 Mail for two years. Thunderbird is in its own entity (MZLA) that is co-governed by a Council elected from our contributors. We are committed to transparent, open source development of our products with plenty of seats at the table for our community.
@ryanleesipes Good to hear that Thunderbird is a own entity. Mozilla killed many great projects in the last years and lost a lot of trust. (e.g. look at the mozilla mastodon instance which gets shut down without any explanation)
@anghenfil I'm sad to see the Mozilla mastodon instance go down as well (was preparing to migrate). But my thoughts are a little different on this front. Some of us in the Mozilla universe are close to the Mastodon project (I've sat with Eugen a couple times to talk strategy for Mastodon).
Are the Mozilla Corporation's efforts best spent running a Mastodon instance? (Something that so many others are doing amazingly). Or is the time best spent making Firefox better? I think it's the latter.
@ryanleesipes (Great work with K9 Mail btw)
@anghenfil appreciate it. It's always been my favorite email client on Android. So it has been a treat to get to work on it.
