So, I'm new and figuring this out, do I need to make a new "account" everytime I want to "join" someones server on here?

@Brian_T_Weingartner my understanding is yes. There may be ways to sync some but not all info from one profile to another. In general, you don't need to be on multiple servers, if I'm not mistaken it's just different rules you may or may not prefer.

@MisterMultiverse Thanks. I just downloaded Vivaldi, and went to join "vivaldi social" on Mastadon, and it made me make a new sign in... so that's interesting. I do see you can port over info from one account to another, but that seems cumbersom to me. Anyhow, still figuring things out

@Brian_T_Weingartner @MisterMultiverse if I may: consider it like email.

If your server is in good terms with another server (called 'federation'), your account can see that other server.

If your server and another server are unhappy with each other (defederated) , you need a an account on each to talk to people in both.

@Brian_T_Weingartner @MisterMultiverse I do suggest that the 'columns' UI mode is better than the default, btw.
