The lack of AC is killing me but this room where I’m staying on vacation almost makes up for it
Also I’d forgotten how powerful trees are as natural air conditioning. It’s supposedly 96F in Guerneville right now but feels at least 10 degrees cooler than that here. Reports of my death may be premature :D
@Catfish_Man is that Myst?
@Catfish_Man Initially I thought “they look like they’re from a Myst game but I can’t tell which one”
@Catfish_Man My back yard is full of trees and bushes and yeah the air that comes off of that in the summer is just right even on the hottest days.
If we could get the local gov to be proactive about trees on the sidewalks it would make a huge difference.
@Catfish_Man from my experiences hiking the Santa Cruz mountains getting below the redwoods canopy lowers the temperature 5-10 degrees compared to no cover.
@MyLittleMetroid @Catfish_Man Same as city streets. The exact amounts depend on the source you read, but there is a measurable temperature decrease on streets with similar orientation and width if they are under the canopy of trees compared to the treeless streets.
@arroz @Catfish_Man The redwoods actually have a stronger effect than oaks/firs, not sure if they just throw more shade or they also capture more humidity.
@arroz @MyLittleMetroid yeah this is where I spent my teenage years, and it was very noticeably cooler than the next neighborhood over (thank redlining for that )
@Catfish_Man
Sir, this is a Wendy’s.
@inthehands if this is a Wendy’s then fly me to Neverland
@Catfish_Man Gotta try the Peter Pan burger!
(Seriously, though, the curved windows…!)
@Catfish_Man
(And yes, the place looks absolutely amazing)
