Dr. Eric J. Fielding, PhD

NASA-ISRO Mission Will Map Farmland From Planting to Harvest. The NASA-ISRO SAR (synthetic aperture radar) satellite will be launched soon and acquire radar over the entire land area of the Earth (except a few places near the poles). One objective is mapping agriculture.

@EricFielding Do you know when the launch is going to happen?

@felixcremer No, I don't know the launch date. It will be launched on an ISRO rocket (GSLV Mark II), so ISRO will make the final launch date decision in collaboration with NASA.

@felixcremer Official news about the launch date will be posted on the NASA blog about NISAR:
blogs.nasa.gov/nisar/
I will not post a "scoop" of that news here.

@EricFielding Thanks for the link. I was not looking for a scoop. I just didn't find the blog post on the NISAR site and heard something about a launch in march recently.

@felixcremer Yes, the NISAR.jpl.nasa.gov web pages should include a link to the NASA NISAR blog. The launch date is an obvious question that everybody wants to know. I hope they post an update on the blog soon.

@felixcremer @EricFielding launch was delayed right? I seem to remember loads of talks about this 3 years ago and then everything went silent for a while

@Ohsin @jgomezdans @felixcremer To clarify, Dr. Kyle McDonald is not the NISAR Mission Project Scientist, he is a member of the NISAR Science Team. He made a premature statement in his presentation to the GLOBE meeting.

@EricFielding @jgomezdans @felixcremer Thanks for clarification, I just went with description and didn't cross check.

@Ohsin @jgomezdans @felixcremer I don't know why that GLOBE page has the incorrect description. Thanks for pointing it out.
