Meanwhile, this is an actual statement from Celine Dion:
"Today, Celine Dion's management team and her record label, Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc., became aware of the unauthorized usage of the video, recording, musical performance, and likeness of Celine Dion singing 'My Heart Will Go On' at a Donald #Trump / #JDVance campaign rally in Montana.
"In no way is this use authorized, and Celine Dion does not endorse this or any similar use.
"…And really, THAT song?"
He's sunk alright...
@GottaLaff Missed an opportunity to note that Trump has a chronic inability to get a woman's consent.
@GottaLaff Had to double check that she said, "And really, THAT song?"
Sue enough, she said it.
@GottaLaff ironically, that presumes the existence of a heart.
@GottaLaff
Always a thief. He thinks he can just take anything for himself.
On t'aime, Céline! :)
@GottaLaff
I got a couple lines from another song "Isn't it ironic? Don't you think?" that he was using that song.
@GottaLaff@mastodon.social They also played "Send in the clowns," so...
"I Fought the Law and the Law Won"
@GottaLaff Setting aside the hilarious connection to the Titanic, is there any context at all where this song would be appropriate for a campaign rally? I genuinely want to know what they were thinking.
They need tunes where he can do sad little fist pumps.
@GottaLaff It signals theyʼre on a sinking ship?
@GottaLaff maybe it’s foreshadowing a future heart attack…
@GottaLaff I dunno. Seems appropriate. Next up “Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye"
@GottaLaff not ‘nearer my god to thee’?
@GottaLaff
If one overlooks the title & lyrics (he has no heart, & if by some miracle the shriveled, rancid thing in its place went on after the Titanic sank, it would only be because he stole at least 1 lifeboat all for himself), and the pesky fact his use of it is unauthorized, one must still admit it’s a pretty perfect allegory for his campaign (& everything else he puts his tiny, grabby fingers on)…
@GottaLaff I really, really hope their campaign is sinking but I won’t feel safe until Harris is in the White House.
Someone needs to tell Elton John that Saturday night is not OK, too
