@argv_minus_one He's being held to account in NY, both in his fraud case and E Jean case. He just got held to account by the appeals court. He's been held to account in other cases and by even SCOTUS. So, even though he skates a lot, he also gets held to account. @Sandywb
@GottaLaff @argv_minus_one @Sandywb I didn’t make myself clear; I was referring to Clarence Thomas.
@Sandywb Oh, so sorry. In that case... I agree! @argv_minus_one
@GottaLaff @Sandywb @argv_minus_one Also, yes, TFG is formally held to account - but has it come with any actual consequences for him so far?
I mean, he's just going ignore the rulings; he was already a criminal before & saying so won't stop him. He's just going to keep doing what he does until he's fitted for an orange jump suit.
@jwcph Going broke is killing him, so yes, those are actual consequences that matter to him more than criminal ones. @Sandywb @argv_minus_one
@GottaLaff @Sandywb @argv_minus_one Do you see him shopping for groceries at Walmart or taking the subway?
Being rich is sticky; rich people don't go broke - you have to take their money away by force.
@jwcph Sigh. Fine. Being fined multi millions, having to put liens on his properties, closing down Trump Org aren't consequences, & he wishes they'd take more. It's why he focuses on them. It's EVERYthing to him.
Please. (+ 91 counts, 4 court cases)
He HATES this. His entire image is $, this is making him miserable. He's about to be worth nothing. Even his base won't be able to donate enough to cover him.
Oh & your bio: "I'm argumentative"? Not a fan. #Toodles
@Snowshadow Reply Guy time! I blocked.
@GottaLaff thanks. What a pain, eh?
@Snowshadow I hope my reply to Reply Guy drove home the point
@GottaLaff I doubt it. His profile says he likes to argue. good block
After some reading, I did the same. First #block w/o any prior engagement or racist etc. behavior.
The "argumentative" part in connection with your quote pushed it over the top for me.
He might simply not have known. So much happening in #TFG's cases daily.
I like dialogues.
You share. I share. We talk and we both might learn something.
Discussions might sometimes be necessary, but not for discussions' sake. Not in my non-work related platforms
And even there...
@HistoPol @GottaLaff Exactly my view.
ETA: Discussion is good...arguments for the sake of arguing =block
@Snowshadow @HistoPol Same. But tbh, I have zero tolerance now for people who say Trump is suffering no consequences.

Hm, that depends on the bar you set for his punishment.
4 me personally, he is far 2 dangerous and quite probably should get the maximum punishment possible under the law.
The #MAGATs and its militant arms will never permit him serving a prison sentence.
Besides, he knows too much about #US (military) secrets.
If found guilty of high treason, only the classic Roman #TarpeianRock punishment'll do this time:

@Snowshadow
@HistoPol My point was... well, read the thread. https://mastodon.social/@GottaLaff/111892351942799690
He is NOT suffering "NO" consequences. We want him to get nailed criminally, yes. but to say he's dancing around without punishment is dead wrong.
(1/2)
I agree with everything you say, including "consequences." Oh, getting his fav toys taken away, smashed even, will drive him insane. His biz reputation torn to pieces? Maybe even worse.
If he hadn't been #POTUS, I' be happy about the likely outcome.
But him currently being the most likely next Pres in 2025...no deal. Maximum punishment.
He will be behaving like Dictator #Sulla, if he gets re-elected, puny, vindictive but without...
@HistoPol @GottaLaff You are preaching to the choir.
Excellent.
I've been an avid reader these past years. Never have I ever seen anyone else pushing for his capital punishment, if convicted.
If this is mainstream in #Blue circles now, even better.
@HistoPol @GottaLaff I don't see capital punishment in his future, but he certainly deserves it...and a few other traitors!
@Snowshadow @HistoPol Seriously? Death? I'm totally against the death penalty, even for the worst offenders.
I'd much rather he rot in prison anyway.
@GottaLaff @HistoPol I am against it too, however if he had to sit and rot on death row until he died would be just fine with me!
@Snowshadow That would suit me just fine. But he doesn't need the death penalty to do that. @HistoPol
@GottaLaff @HistoPol Have you seen what it is like on death row? and if he had the threat hanging over his head each day I say fine. Let him live out his days in fear.
I am not normally a vindictive person, but look at the mess he and his group caused..globally.
@Snowshadow @HistoPol Oh totally... but he'd have to be sentenced to death for that. And I can't agree with that part.
Yes, but it is the only way.
And, just to be clear, with regard to the punitive goal of a sentence, I am still against the #DeathSentence, even for someone because of whom hundreds of thousands died unnecessarily due to #Covid19, who quite likely sold military secrets to foreign adversaries, etc.
However, there's always the more important part (we can all agree that we can skip the "change his behavior" part, I guess,) of ...

...saving the public from a potential repetition of his criminal behavior.
His, soon-to-be, 100+ counts of his indictments, and of those in particular the charges of insurrection and the selling of military secrets ca not continue to be a threat.
There are already a lot of parallels b/w him and the #US Nazi story as told by #RachelMaddow in her sensational podcast #Ultra.
To just give one example, he's already created #Bedlam:...

I can only strongly recommend the series if you haven't listened to it already.
There is one episode about a powerful governor running from prison for re-election .
Just imagine this guy being Trump!
