That's what curl is enough for, see "curl --get" example in the man page of curl.

@tamas @bagder true and great if you need to type it in single shell command in an interactive session.

trurl as a separate step has the following advantages:

1) the script is more readable
2) UNIX-way separation
3) in my scripts where I use trurl I often need access to the URL for logging/debug/etc
