Americans pronounce primer as "prim-mer" and not "pri-mer"?!

I've never pronounced it that way. And Wikipedia has the us "irregular" pronunciation which is what I've always heard. Maybe it's a regional thing in the US?
@asmodai No we don’t. I’ve lived & worked all over the country & I’ve only ever heard a handful of people say “primmer” & it always sounds weird. Primer pronounced like “timer” is the norm, not like “slimmer”.
