@paoloredaelli in general, X11 over SSH is very inefficient to begin with; the only way to avoid saturating the bandwidth is to use applications written to draw X11 primitives, which means apps written using Xaw/Athena/Motif. Anything written in this century will submit blocks of image data, which X11 is terrible at.
