Music Monday! This week: Bossa Nova. The bossa nova (lit. "new wave") is a Brazilian style of music that has a fairly recognisable rhythm. Although there are many ways to play it on a drumkit, a typical "full" drum part would be this: http://music.hcoder.org/music-monday/Bossa%20Nova.mp3 (if that's your thing, here's the sheet music: http://music.hcoder.org/music-monday/Bossa%20Nova.pdf). To show the three typical layers of the rhythm when playing on a modern drumkit, it adds each layer one at a time.

Finally, two examples of songs that use bossa nova: first, Canción jurídica by Iván Ferreiro (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipqipAW_IT4), which uses bossa nova in 1:33-2:45, with a drum pattern similar to the example above. A different example could be Nouvelle Vague's version of Ever Fallen In Love (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ZYHYHVx50Y), which is very sparse on the percussion side, and _very_ fast. Almost unrecognisable from the percussion alone, but hopefully recognisable together with the rhythm guitar.
