Hey everyone! I'm hoping to pool some community knowledge and get recommendations for more creatives to follow!
I'm interested in naturalistic (not AI) #landscape and #nature #photography, #storytelling, #conservation, and #blackandwhite. Drop your suggestions down below; if we build up a good list I'll pin this to my profile for people to view as a resource.
Shout out to @geoff_eg for the great idea.
@murraylivingston @geoff_eg The most important hashtag for me that I follow is #BelieveInFilm, though that doesn't necessarily imply nature or landscape photography specifically.
@Gargron @murraylivingston @geoff_eg at the end of the day, the images appearing here are digital. You can argue that film exposures have a qualitative domain, and I am as charmed as I can be by the idea, but this is a digital gallery. Imagine what you like. You cannot display here the result of a film exposure.
@grayfinger @murraylivingston @geoff_eg Is the Mona Lisa a digital painting because you saw it online?
@Gargron @murraylivingston @geoff_eg It is digital because that's the only way I've ever seen it.
@grayfinger @Gargron @geoff_eg its both because it wouldn't exist without film in the first place. your singular perception of it doesn't change the multitude of the object's existence in its own right. it was only digital to you before someone told you it was film, then it became both to you.
@murraylivingston @grayfinger @Gargron oooh I like this response. Well said Murray.
@grayfinger @Gargron @murraylivingston an interesting take for sure.
I see your logic, but, I do think a digital image/scan of a physical item can be enough to present the beauty and character of the item adequately.
It may not be quite the same in the context of a structure. But, in the context of a film negative or painting a digital copy I find still holds much of the value that original does.
