Interesting dilemma, Thinking about moving to social.ds106.us. It seems moving mastodon servers is not that difficult. I think you lose old posts but since I’ve POSSED some from my blog it is not a problem. Alternatively the ActivityPub WordPress plugin turns your blog into a member of the fediverse. The is attractive, but I am not sure how much understanding & work is needed. Or I could stay on mastodon.social

Mastodon hosted on social.ds106.usds106 SocialThis is a Mastodon sandbox for ds106 folks. Play at your own creative risk.

@johnjohnston I did the first one, and it was pretty easy to set up a redirect and bring across my followers. I think I've lost my old posts, but I don't think that I had said anything worth keeping anyway.

@johnjohnston where ever you are, I’ll be there thanks to the fediverse :) I am going to create another server bava.social as a dev/test space for Mastodon given I have similar questions

@johnjohnston Same dilemma here. I think it is entirely possible to try things out and see what works, but as @jimgroom says wherever we are, there we are 'cause fediverse 🙃

@johnjohnston I will say I am hearing from more and more folks who do want to use WP for just this, I think the issue is being able to follow and post within the mastodon stream, a similar issue as Known had. It is an interesting question/dilemma, and one I would be interested in knowing if and how you solve it.
