on Rack Reform, what kind of physical port do you prefer for console UART access? DE-9?

@mntmn @wolf480pl I wouldn't put ttl uart signals on a DE9, way too likely for somebody to plug in a rs232 +-12V since that's such a standard traditional config.

Unfortunately I don't know of any common connector setup for ttl uart, the only one that comes to mind is 5-pin 0.1" pin header and you obviously don't want to put that on the front of your rack gear.

An 8p8c "rj45" jack with a clear label "ttl 5V uart" would do the trick I think. It would be good regardless to have voltage protection on the circuit so if somebody does plug a 12v Cisco console cable in, it doesn't fry the port.

@eqe @mntmn @wolf480pl I've seen the opposite as well -- this LPC debug card had a Mini USB connector for the serial console but used RS232 levels. maybe spend a few extra cents and have USB-ACM chip on the port?
