two puzzle pieces of MNT Rack Reform (rear port farm/uart access and PCIe port)

nice, this UART/USB solution works great

minute

the second virtual USB-UART goes to the system controller on the motherboard, works too!

both UARTs are available through a single USB-C port at the rear of the case.

@mntmn the UARTs are available... Through a USB-C Port

What

@mntmn like they just appear as a standard ttyUSB on the device remote to the reform?

@ellenor2000 yep, as USB serial ports via a CP2105 chip

@ellenor2000 i think there's some dirty way to do UART directly over CC pins or something, but i'm not doing that

@mntmn@mastodon.social @ellenor2000@mastodon.top there's debug accessory mode, where you can do whatever

but requires a special cable/device to do so.

@ellenor2000 @mntmn technically you can put UART on the superspeed pairs or possibly the SBU lines I think when you're in debug alt-mode. This is what some pine64 devices do except they don't only do it on debug alt-mode :P
