the MNT Pocket Reform Operator Handbook is out as a free PDF: mntre.com/documentation/pocket

edited and illustrated by @holo_memory and me, pixel tina graphic by @theawesomerandomness

Love it. It is always great to see work of such quality and care.

@mntmn @holo_memory @theawesomerandomness Is this right, that the left mouse button is not the leftmost button?

@jfred yes :) we tested it and it proved to be non-ergonomic.

@holo_memory That makes sense! You do use the left mouse button much more often than the middle button

@jfred @mntmn @holo_memory @theawesomerandomness interesting, that is an odd configuration. I'm sure we can remap it if necessary

@mntmn @holo_memory @theawesomerandomness see this is why I love your company. Everything is open, now I really want to buy the handbook separately just to support your teams efforts.

@mntmn @holo_memory @theawesomerandomness do you have a place to collect typo? There might be a missing space at page 29 or the formatting is weird
(Replace the username `kim`with ...)

@mntmn @holo_memory @theawesomerandomness also page 30 say to use circle + 0 for shutdown but I would expect hyper and not 0

@mntmn @holo_memory @theawesomerandomness page 33 mention an SD card but I was under the impression debian came pre-installed on onboard memory and there was no SD card shipped with the reform

@gkrnours @mntmn oh seems like we missed these! we'll correct them in the online version, but it will be too late for the print version, unfortunately. (or maybe not, we're talking about this rn) you can just tag me and @mntmn here if you find anything else :) thank you!

@holo_memory @mntmn the chapter 7 start by saying all parts except port cover are aluminium but in the following section I count 3 aluminium, 3 PCB and 2 port cover of undefined materials. I guess an early version of the reform used more aluminium. I wonder if the use of PCB material is for heat dissipation reason.
edit: that was the paragraph right after the one where I had stopped reading
edit2: I had missed the section saying ports are made of pcb material...

@holo_memory @mntmn and I'm done with the handbook. I really like it also contains annotated schematics, even if it's a lot for someone not used to them.

@gkrnours @holo_memory thank you very much for the thorough read and detailled feedback!

@gkrnours @holo_memory we have corrected these mistakes now in the online PDF version, thanks again!

@mntmn @holo_memory @theawesomerandomness I've not been this excited to sit down and read a manual in a long while.

@mntmn @holo_memory @theawesomerandomness

This looks beautiful! Will print versions be available to buy for those of us who couldn't quite justify the cost of the hyper originally?

@pyoor thank you so much! yes, print versions will become available in our shop and on crowd supply :)

@mntmn @holo_memory @theawesomerandomness Amazing! I really appreciate the details about DE options. This reminds me of my first computer's manual (Timex Sinclair 1000). I read and referred to the TS1000 manual many times when I was a little kid learning computers. Nostalgia + Anticipation = Chills right now!!!

@mntmn
Excellent manual, serves as a really nice introduction to Linux as well. Puts other companies to absolute shame.

I look forward to ordering one from the shop to go my Pocket Reform.

The section about Shutdown makes no mention of sleep or suspend states. I'm having headaches with other ARM based machines (and my understanding), are they supported?

Can I sleep/suspend my machine to low power and put it in my bag after the coffee shop have closed for the day, kicked everyone out and deliberately mopped around my feet.
