Computer History Museum 🇸🇮

The Iskra Delta “Triglav” computer serves as a testament to Slovenia's remarkable contributions to the world of computing. Triglav, which translates to "Trident" in English, stands as a noteworthy addition to the esteemed Iskra Delta series that emerged in the 1980s. You can also obtain a stylish t-shirt featuring its iconic design!

@muzej why on earth do i have transformers noises in my head now? I just imagine how the thing becomes Optimus Prime

@muzej Triglav... The translation should be more three heads.

Tried : three
Glava : head

No ?

@hyde While it's true that translation can be a subject of debate, overseas, a computer was sold under the name 'Trident'.

@muzej Very cool, but “Triglav” does not translate to “trident”.

Triglav: “three-headed” (name of a god and a mountain)
trident: three-pronged spear, from Latin “three-toothed” (Slovene: trizob)

@noctuaminervae The truth is that the translation can be debatable; however, in the foreign market, a computer was marketed under the name 'Trident. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triglav_

@muzej Ah, I see. That would have been a clearer way to put it.

@muzej Were these computers mainly built with western chips or did they also use ICs from former Yugoslavia and Eastern Europe?

@danimrich The general idea was to emphasize the use of domestically manufactured components to promote self-sufficiency in the computing industry. Iskra Delta computers used ICs from Yugoslavia, but also relied on Western-imported components for certain critical parts, such as CPUs.
