@lapcatsoftware thankfully, looks like you can still turn it off without a confirmation by using the shortcut action, but still ridiculous

@lapcatsoftware surprised nobody has mentioned that the Vista feature everyone clowned on (UAC) was user controllable! You could turn it off! The present dialogs are much worse

@philltopia @lapcatsoftware Yet it was a “sea change” that up until that point, didn’t exist on Windows - the Standard account was so limited that I would be surprised if anyone willingly used it.

I believe it was configurable in the Business or Enterprise versions, but I don’t know if there was a consensus that - as with XP Professional - the Home versions lacked important features that made them functionally incomplete, which might have pushed people to upgrade to a better product.

@philltopia @lapcatsoftware This is to say nothing of the fact that Mac OS X never had the same issue, in part due to its UNIX heritage.
