Also if you pick "other", please comment what Platform you are targeting.
@vala_lang I picked "without GUI", because the snippetexpanderx daemon is built with Vala for easily hooking into the AT-SPI2 API to do its job.
However, I guess that could be a vote for "Other".
@ianmjones interesting use case!
I think without GUI fits best for that too. With "Other" I meant other platforms like XFCE, Windows, XApps, MacOS etc.
@vala_lang elementary always with a lowercase "e"
@tintou noted! I am afraid editing the poll will reset it...
@vala_lang Can one write a GTK app with Vala that works on both Ubuntu and Ubuntu Touch?
@tizmic @vala_lang Ubuntu Touch is build on Unity aka QT and last time I tried didn't support GTK well yet, they keep working on it tho so the situation might have improved by now.
@gamey @tizmic the chance is high that your phone is supported by #postmarketos
@vala_lang @tizmic My prefered solution is PmOS with Phosh and it has improved dramatically since I bought my Pinephone PmOS communuty edition but as normal phone OS Ubuntu Touch still feels better. What Canonical left them is a hard to maintain and relatively incompatible peace of software but it's a really polished experience and I hope they manage to find more developers to improve it and fix some of the Canonical bs!
In my experience, the @ubports team constantly develops the system further and keeps pushing out major updates. At the moment, the update of the base system to Ubuntu 24.4 is in the making. Also, there is progress wrt VoLTE and 5G. Of course, more developers would be great. That's for sure and highly appreciated, but the team is doing great work.
@GerryT @vala_lang @tizmic @ubports Yea, they do a fantastic job with the resources they have and some things Canonical works on like Wayland protocols in Mutter helps a lot with compatibility but I feel like most of their time is spend updating the Ubuntu base and at least from my spectator perspective it seems like they definitely need more support! They even got Snaps by now, not a big fan myself but that's objectively a huge step for the project too!
